Joanne Cohen is a Certified Herbalist, Certified Flower Essence Practitioner, Plant Spirit Medicine Practitioner, Certified Medicinal Aromatherapist, and Certified Birth Doula (DONA).
Joanne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Botanical Medicine 10 years ago from the University of Vermont. Since then, she has studied and become certified through the teachings of many renowned healers throughout the United States including Rosemary Gladstar, Eliot Cowan, and David Dalton. Her healing philosophy is deeply rooted in the plant kingdom, believing that its medicine can bring Health, Balance, Grace, and Empowerment into a person’s life.
As an Herbalist, Joanne became fascinated by the idea that our emotional state is the cause of present and later illness. And that our childhood wounds create imprints that if left untreated, cause negative belief systems to form as well as various emotional/physical challenges. With that in mind, Joanne soon incorporated the use of plants to encompass body, mind, and spirit.
In Joanne’s private practice she helps people with issues including infertility, grief, anxiety, sexual abuse, and numerous other physical and emotional traumas. She has worked with women, men, adolescents, children, babies, and pets. Private sessions are available and all formulas (Herbal remedies, Flower Essence formulas) are customized for each individual.
After assisting her sister birth her beautiful baby boy, Joanne was inspired to become a Birth Doula. She became certified through DONA, an international and well-recognized certifying organization. Her commitment is to assist moms and their partners in creating an ideal labor and birth through education, advocacy, and support. Joanne is also a member of the American Pregnancy Association and the Doula Association of Southern California (DASC).
